Head protection is fundamental on construction and industrial sites where falling objects, impacts, or other head-injury hazards exist. A compliant safety helmet can absorb and distribute impact energy and reduce the risk of serious head injury.
Airborne hazards can be just as serious as physical hazards. Sites with high dust levels or hazardous gases require respiratory protection selected for the contaminant and exposure. To improve consistent use, procurement and safety teams should assess site hazards before selecting head or respiratory protection and gather feedback from workers during use. PPE should meet the required standard while also fitting the wearer and the task.
There are no shortcuts in work safety. Companies need a complete process that links hazard observation, risk-based PPE selection, correct use, inspection, and supervision. When these elements become part of routine operations, workers are better protected throughout the job.
